Viсtor A. Skersis was born on July 5, 1956 in Moscow, a Russian conceptual artist. He is known for both independent creativity and works as part of the groups: Nest (G. Donskoy, M. Roshal, V. Skersis, 1974 - 1979), SZ (V. Skersis, V. Zakharov, since 1980) and Cupid group (together with Yu. Albert and A. Filippov, since 2008). For more than 20 years he has been living in the USA, Pennsylvania, where he is engaged in fundamental research of the processes taking place in art. Despite moving to the USA, Viktor Skersis is still an active participant in Moscow art life. His art of recent years, presented both at solo exhibitions and as part of the projects of the Cupid group, demonstrates constant transformations, the search for new forms that are based on original theoretical concepts.

Skersis defines the zone of his own interests as "meta-art". In 2008, his theoretical text "Aspects of Meta-art" was published, including, for example, "The Fundamental Paradox of Skersis": "The most important part of the work of art being created is that which is not art."
