Abstract

The authors of the article discuss the problem of the formation of the paradigm of nationality as a philosophical and aesthetic problem. The work attempts to characterize the complex processes (social, cultural, social) that took place in Europe in the New Time. These processes are considered as having influenced the formation of the phenomena «nationality», «nation», «popular» (traditional) culture. The problems of the formation of the «middle class», its influence on traditional culture, the dichotomy of «elite — grassroots», commercialization and industrialization are touched upon.
