Abstract

The article is an examination of music in the views of the religious philosopher Jacques Maritain, who reinterprets the Platonic «mousikë» in the aspect of his idea of poetic (creative, intellectual) intuition, which takes place in the preconscious creative «self». the substance and the way of human value interaction with the world». Musical in the religious sense as a substantial «soundless» determining the preconscious life of the intellect in Maritain’s interpretation was reflected in the concepts of «melody», «musical shock», «music of intuitive impulses.» At the same time, not logos, but aesthesis, in the opinion of the author of the article, is of interest to Maritain, when through the «interiorization of music» the sensual principle is somehow resurrected, self-expression in art is carried out, which is not the self-expression of the poet, but through the poet, the artist, the deep «mousikë» of the creative intuition.
