Abstract

The article examines the concept of the traumatic in the light of the categories of classical and non-classical aesthetics. The category of the tragic cannot be the aesthetic equivalent of the concept of trauma, since the art of trauma does not guarantee catharsis experience. The traumatic experience converges with the notions of the horrible as an expression of irrational intrusion. The concept of poststructuralist aesthetics the formless can be productive for the analysis of the art of trauma.
