Abstract

The function of art in a transitional era is turning out to be a projective, modeling function. Media art of the early 21st century transforms communication, new functions of art come to the fore, the study of which is one of the tasks of modern aesthetics. Art created with the help of new information technologies adapts our perception abilities to life in the context of the spread of these technologies.

Aesthetic communication becomes a training of imagination, an experience of orientation in the space of virtual worlds.

Keywords: Media art, the functions of art, imagination, art of the turn of the 20—21st centuries, modernist art, postmodernist art.
